Physical Education is greatly valued at Knayton School and is an important part of the curriculum.  We believe it allows children to grow in confidence, build self esteem and self-reliance, and develop social skills.  Sport helps children begin to understand what it is like to be part of a team, and learn to appreciate fair play and sportsmanship.

We strive to offer a quality and varied sports curriculum, which includes: football, rugby, hockey, netball, dance, gymnastics, cross country running, athletics, cricket, rounders, tennis, and golf.  This breadth of opportunity ensures there is a sport for everyone and challenges each and every pupil to participate and lead a healthy lifestyle.  Every child takes part in 2 hours of physical education a week and in KS2 have the opportunity to compete in inter-house competitions.

Knayton School plays an active part in inter-school sports competitions and we have consistently over achieved relative to our size over recent years.

We also offer and have strong demand for a number of extra-curricular sports clubs throughout the academic year which are provided internally by staff and by external providers.

As well as being challenging, lessons are fun, energetic and inclusive and aim to develop children’s agility, balance and coordination; skills that can be adapted and transferred to all sports.
