New Post Title

Posted 7/5/2017

We have had a busy week focusing on the vikings. We have explored the Vikings as traders and explorers focusing on the Viking boats. After exploring this, we then designed our very own Viking boats in small groups. Over the next few weeks we will be looking to make our very own.

The chicks returned on Friday for a short time! It was great seeing how they have grown, we were still able to recognise the chicks but they have changed significantly!

Outdoors with Wolf!

Posted 24/3/2017

On Friday afternoon, we had great fun completing many cool activities with 'Wolf'; our very own trained Forest School expert! We learnt how to tie specific knots to help us make  dens. We used a flint and steel to create sparks that were used to light a bit of cotton wool - very exciting! We then used this skill to make our very own fire after collecting many different sized sticks. To finish off a great afternoon, we toasted marshmallows on our camp fire to make smoars! Such a great afternoon, learning many new skills! Please see our Facebook page for more pictures!!

Lamborghini racing!

Posted 17/3/2017

On Friday afternoon we consolidated our learning with measurement as we raced Mr Butterworth's remote control Lamborghini around the classroom (bashing into everything possible). We created our own race track and recorded everyones times to two decimal places. Toby set the fastest time, even beating Mr Butterworth (watch out Lewis Hamilton!). We then compared the times and worked out who was faster and slower than each other - a great way to consolidate our learning on time! The words 'this is why children don't drive' were mentioned quite a few times by the children ... and Mr Butterworth!!!

Turkish delight!!!!!!

Posted 10/3/2017

We have been writing about many exciting scenes in 'The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe' this week. But I'm sure the favourite part of the week was when we wrote about Edmund's love for turkish delight. We even managed to taste some to help us understand why the character liked it so much. Unfortunately for quite a few of the children, this wasn't a pleasant experience, as one of the following pictures show you...

Exploring sentence structure

Posted 10/3/2017

Throughout the week we have been exploring the structure of sentences and how we can manipulate them and move them around to add greater effect. Here is a picture of the whole class discussing how we can moved certain words, clauses or phrases around in a sentence to add effect.

Exploring time!

Posted 4/3/2017

We began the week by exploring time! We were allowed to write down what we know on the tables (we did clean them after) about time. We generated questions about what we didn't know and throughout the week we had opportunities to answer and solve these questions. Please ask your child the time over the weekend to check their understanding of 12 and 24 hour clock times!!
